The Korean Language

Woke up round eleven today. Went outside to grab lunch with Teresa. Had a really hard time tryin to get food. I couldn't read a single word in Korean. My limited spoken Korean made the matter worse. I lost count how many gestures I used tryin to get just a sandwich and juice for brekafast. I ended up with vege in my sandwich and Banana juice. Stuff that i really hate. Argh. The sandwich tasted good after the discarded the veg though.

Tried to get Suz to go shoppin with me but failed. Irritating. Found out later at night that the batt was low and she was sick. Alright I forgive you. But u owe me a shoppin' trip. Keke.

Decided to join a group of people from the Summer school to shop. However, they all went out already. Poor me have to try to get to the station to meet them. Is about an hour away and I needed to find my way there using Korean signs. Buyin the transportation card was damn funny. The lady in the store was pointin all over the place as I gave a blank look when she tried to explain something to me.

When I finally reached the shoppin area. I realised how crowded it was. The most crowded I've ever seen so far in a normal day. Its like people are gathering to see fireworks on New Year's Eve.

We headed off to the peak of Seoul, Namsan Mountain. The air is so much cooler up there. Did not went up the obsevatory as it cost 8000won (about 8 USD). Been to enough tower from my trip in Canada.

The group photo up there reminds of those time in Calgary. But these photos are now just photos of smiley faces. It lacked the bond, laugther, happiness, tears and hardship and time spent together in Calgary. I still cannot understand why I cannot get over it. Perhaps it is really the best time that I ever had in life. Calgary, I miss you.

An unfinished clip on the last few weeks in Calgary. I miss spending time with all of you guys, my dear friends. I have not gotten over the life there after all this while. Perhaps it is really the best time in my life.

The Long Goodbye

Its been 4 months. Time really just flies by. Felt like I have just been in Calgary yesterday. This is the most enriching and certainly the best 4 months of my life. I have everything I need. Lots of love, happiness and friends. Its kinda hard to envision how I would be able to find something better than this in the future.

There is way too many things that I would miss about Calgary. So much that I do not know where to start. Its good to think that I have met so many amazing people in this short journey. People that have left a lasting footprint in my life. Thank you so much.

Well I glad that i left Calgary with nothing but beautiful memories. I really am grateful to have meet you guys here and shared such an wonderful unforgetable experience. I know its a cliche but I have to say it anyway Friendship Forever!

The Flames is Burning

Let me first introduce you to the great popcorn stall. Kernel's. There is so many different flavours. Luv the caramel the best! Its cheap and nice too. should try it it u ever have a chance.

Went to the Flames Central today. Just a couple of days after the grand opening. There was a playoff going on there.Calgary Flames against the Detroit Red Wings. Its was a rather impressive place. The lighthings were cool. Amospehre was even better. Huge number of Flames fans were already there by the time we reached. I had to change my track pants just ot get in. Diao. Dress codes.........

I must say that I am most impressed with the number of TVs available there. A TV to each urinal. Guess the owner must be a very thoughtful person, he even considered the patrons need to no miss a single moment of the game when answering to a nature's call. Haha. We did not stay till the end of th match as we could not get a nice spot. Still, it was a nice place overall.

The Bermuda Shorts Day

That's the name of the last day fo school here in UofC. Its a day where the school population will get drunk! Yup you hear me. They party on the last day fo school and exam starts Monday. I luv these people. They sure know how to have fun. Unlike back in SG everybody mug and get stressed up. Get a life peeps!

I really feel like I have been throw into a clubbing carnival. Music are great, the weather is just nice. 20 degrees. I think I am gettin too used to the weather here. Best thing is still going crazy with my friends. Hehe. Bring on the beer man!

There are also many interesting costume too. Here are some of them

I was so stupid to wear slippers there. Knowing that there will be cans everywhere. I got a cut in my little toe. Ouch! Despite the cut that I got in my feet the whole party thing is worth it. This exchange is really an eye opener. I should've came to Canada for my tertiary education!!!

I'm so gonna miss the life here. Should we party harder after exams my friends? Hehe.

The Last Few Weekends

Could hardly believe that my exchange is coming to an end so soon. I am so gonna miss this life. Carefree and simple. Knowing that there is not much time left, we decided to goout a little more. Hehe. Furthermore, the weather was quite nice during the weekend.

Well, to mark the start of the long weekend, Iwent to church. Well its Good Friday. Gotta go anyway. This is the first time I went for a service since the day I arrived in Calgary. Ooops. The church is pretty small but nice. The way they do the service was pretty casual too. Only 2 guitars and 3 ppl at the choir. No knights of the alter. Just the priest. First time i see this. But i like it that way, as we go church not to marvel at the choir or settings.

The next day was spend at the tallest spot in Calgary. Yup you guessed it right. Went to the Calgary Tower. Almost missed out on the hidden gem. The view up there was spectacular. The best part is still the glass floor. Hehe. Damn scary to look down. Found bx's weak point finally. *Grin*. Here are the view from the top.

3 of us having fun at the glass floor.

As it was a one day admission, we decided to see the sunset too. However, it was 4 hours before sunset. Well it spring time. Sun does not set until like 7.30 pm. Hence we went to Kensington our favourite coffee hangout. Hehe.

Finally back to the tower right before sunset. However, we did not get a goodview of it. Damn. There is a freakin tall building that stood erected right in from of the sun. Argh! What a 'smart' way to plan the town ho. They call Calgary Tower the tallest tourist tower in the world. Now tear that building down!!!

We sat there chattin till its night. The night sure make people reminisce. I wonder and wonder how's things gonna be after this exchange. It seems like I am in paradise. Well at least i got my share of paradise.

Sunday was spent walking around the park and eatin at the drive in. Guess that winds up my weekend. Two more weekends to go before I leave behind this place that I really wanna make my home.

The Night Scene

Couldn't believe this. After 3 months here in calagry, I finally get to see the city skyline. Thanks to Tim for taking us there. Its always hard to get around without a car in North America. Nothing really special bout the place. But still seeing everything for the first time is always interesting.

Also watched a stand-up comedy show that night. Why does the jokes need to be bout wifes and sexual innuendos all the time? Wonder wonder. But still I really admire the comedians. Going to the desert next week. Finally a trip. Waited so long for that.

The Favourite Things

Well, I am now currently rottin' in my room thinkin' bout the trips far far ahead of me. And my plan for next few months is just like the weather here. A moment everything is bright and sunny. Just as i thought that I can even breath easy, it became all snowy, cold and gloomy.

Since there is not trip to blog about..............................lets blog about things then. Haha. You think I'm gonna sign off with a gloomy random entry? No way man! Haha. Here are a few things that I found here in Canada and really like a lot.

First up the provocative yet really cool matchbox. Dun you just agree with the tag line. Well, if you dun agree, check your spam mail. they've got lots of remedy for you. Wahaha!

Next up is the Beaver's Droppings. I still remember how hard I laughed when my roommate's friends actually told me that she had some pretty cool droppings. Yucks! In case you dun understand, droppings = shit. I have no idea why they call this chocolate droppings.

Talkin' about sweet things, I really like this cute little Bird candy called Peeps . Oh, note that I like the look of it no eatin' it. Its so damn sweet that i need to drink so much water after having it.

Yes you have seen him before, the Smiley face candle that I've used for one of my friend's Birthday. The big one looks more like a bomb actually.

The next item is authentically Canadian. Tim Horton's. Its actually Canada's answer to the US starbucks i guess. Really dig their timbits and donuts. Banana flavoured timbit is my favourite. Isn't it ironic when i dun eat banana at all. Haha. A further plus point is the price. Its much more reasonable and cheaper than the other coffee chain too.

The last and final thing. Haha. No, I'm not being narcissistic. Yes i do love myself a lot but this is about the camera. After my freakin olympus keep screwing up on me. I have decided to get a Sony camera. Maybe i should steal it from my friend. YJ you did not see this. Hehe.

The Must Watch Concert

I've never been this blown away before by any performance. The 3 hours there seems only like 30 minutes. Wondering what I am talking about? Its the Christina Aguilera concert! This gal can really perform. She not only sings but she performed and entertained. I feel like I've been thrown into a whole different world at the Saddledome last night.
We reached there rather early about an hour before the show. Was uber excited to find out that out seat is not only close but also has a center stage view.
The openin act was sexay PCD. So cool. Watch them shake their booty make me wanna get up and dance too. They performed all their hits. Glad to be able to hear all those songs live. Songs that I've been clubbin' to. Manage capture some video on their dances too. These girls are really sizzling hot! We were so hyped up already even by now. And the best thing have yet to come.
We got really restless from waiting for the stage to be set up. But the wait was certainly worhtwhile. Judgin from the fact that there was really a lot of mechanical sutffs goin' on the stage later in the performance. After a 30 minutes long wait, Christina appeared in her classic white suit performing Ain't No Other Man.
The craziness continues as she belt out more hits from her new album plus the girl anthem Can't Hold Us Down. I bet the gals were singin along happily to this song. I really like the bing band swing style. I would really luv to hear her sing Makes Me Wanna Pray again. Her vocals are so powerful. I'm super duper impressed.
But stickin just to white will be a bit boring right? Just as I was thinkin of the glitters and gold of the early 50' s, she emerged in this shiny glittery outfit. Was really lost in the performance already by now. The partners dances choreo are really cool and naugthy too. Hope I can dance to this kinda choreo in the future man.
The thing I really like about Christina is she sings and not talk. I'm pretty sick and tired of artist rambling too much during their concerts. The only time that she talked a lot was about this song, Oh Mother that she dedicate to ther mother for standing up against her abusive father for them. I wonder why most successful artist has a pretty dark childhood days. Guess it just shows us that better days will come out way as long as we hang in there.
I am wondering whether to call this a concert or a musical actually. The whole stage was turned into a moulin rouge settin'. Fire, acrobats, stick man. you name it you got it. And of course the pretty singer takes the role of the ring master. So hot!
Just when you taught that things cannot get any more steamy, poles appeared on stage and she was riding on a carousel horse as she belts out Dirty. Now tell me how can you resists screaming yout lungs out for this sexy talented gal. Not cheerin' for her, beware as she can whip the hell out of you like she did in Nasty Naughty Boy to a volunteer from the audience. Sad to say, I was not that lucky guy.
Although everything was pretty great in the concert, my favourtie performance was actually the cutesy Candyman song. I just luv swingin' to the beat as she do her shakin' the booty move. The sailor costume is so adorable. Think I'm gonna be a sailor if all peeps on board dresses like this. Haha.
The next stage settin' was rather simple but I really was mesmerised by the stary stary night setting as she sang Hurt.
Just as the saying goes all good things come to an end. The concert ended not without the anthem Beautiful and Fighter. There was so much energy in that final performance that I can still feel it right now. This gal really deserves the 7 figures sales and the grammy awards. Remember to never let go the chance of catchin this powerful diva in concert!

The First Day of Spring

Yup. It has finally arrived. Temperature was up to 17 degress. Best Sunday every. We do not really have a plan as everybody were busy with midterms and assigments. But being the slack me, I couldn;t be bothered and went out anyway. Hehe.

What else is better than sittin at the outdoor patio enjoying a cup of pretty good coffee with gingerbread cookies! Watchin the huge number of people doin their thing too. It seems like the town has awaken from their hibernation. Hehe. Really luv this yellow bike that i spotted on the street too. Kensington, I luv this place.

Note: The weather did not last long. It snowed heavily the next day. Snowing in spring. Super dioaz.

The Long Absence

Yup I've been gone for quite long. 2 reasons sum it up. Not much interesting activity goin on and been busy with assigments and midterms. Guess the most interesting and fun thingy that happened is another birthday! Its Suzi's this time around.

I really luv the decorations we got for the room. Went scouting for the stuffs with yj the night before. Was such a disaster as we took the wrong train. Haha. My bad. But it was that mistake that lead us to stumble upon the stall with lots of party decorations. I luv the smiley face candles the most.

The karaoke session right after was really fun deeeeee. How i wish my birthday was earlier man den i can celebrate it here! Oh here is a very 'nice' pic. Taken when bx burst the balloon. Aparently everyone was shocked but somehow only the birthday gal's expression was caught on camera. Haha. Happy Birthday, Smile Always!

Valentine's day its here again. Flowers flowers everywhere. Chocolate chocolate to make you fat. I got somethings else though. Haha. I got a present with brownies and cookies. Kudos to the effort. Its taste nice. If you're wonderin' whether I'm gettin' attached, the answer is a big no. Bleh. Its just a gift from a very good friend. We are like sis and bro la. Here's the pic of the gift.

Anyway I found out from my friend that in Korea, only gals give presents to guy on Valentine's Day. Cool right. Stop right there u guys. Don't even think u could move to Korea to get away with the gifts. The have another day called White Day in which the guys will buy the gals gifts. So much for thought of movin' ya.

The Broadway Away from New York

Woohooooo!. I'm gonna be catchin' a broadway show not at NYC but in Calgary. Call it luck. The broadway musical 'The Producers" are goin' on tour. So lucky to be able to watch them. Will be goin' for the show on April's Fool day. I'm really burnin' my dad's pocket. Haiz. We got a pretty close up spot. No choice, its either the 3rd row or the 23rd row. We decided on the former.

Snow has been fallin' for the 4th day straight. My goodness. Been seeing perfectly shape snowflakes. They are so nice. My camera is not powerful enough to capture it though. Sigh. Anyway, here is another nice pic that I took at school. Enjoy the snow while it is still here. Brrrrrrrr. Its cold outside.

The Bo-Liao Weekend

This is really a bo-liao (wasted) weekend. Nothing much is done but shoppin' and searchin'. Yes searchin' for CNY clothes. Finally got them. Its so hard to get the right clothes as i could not find any Topman or Guess around here. Settled for American Eagles instead. I had such a panic attack when cuttin' my hair. Its phobia from past experiences. I always end up lookin' like a monkey or alien when I randomly picked a hairdresser. Lucky it turned out ok this time around. Here's the pic.

My friend has complained that I'm too lazy for not describing a little more about the weekend trip. So here we go. Basically, Banff is a very popular ski town here in Canada. Professionals come here to compete, amatuers come here to learn and poeple like me went there to fall. Haha.

The snowfall here is tremendous. It seems to me that it snows at least 2 days every week. Being part of the Canadian rockies, there are a huge number of mountains and canyons like the states. The one that we went to is called Johnson's Canyon. In the trip we learnt that u can differentiate between a glacier and frozen water as water has is a tinge of blue in the ice structure.

There is one very special thing about this place. The presence of a hot spring in this freakin' cold winter. The temperature of the water is actually 39 degrees in a cold outdoor sub zero temperature. And yes it is a outdoor hot spring! Don't you think it looks like a haunted mansion?

U must bewondering why am I postin' such a long entry. This is becos I'll be away for a whole 10 days from 17 onwards so will not be able to blog. He he. Goin' Vancouver, Victoria and Edmonton! Hyper excited.

Its was snowing again today. Wif super duper strong wind. Prayin hard that it will not bee too cold over the weekend. Lookin' forward to hikin' at the mountains.

The Coffee Hub

It was surprising on how pleasant Kensington turn out to be. We intended only to have some coffee and do our groceries. We ended up spending more than 4 hours theremy goodness. This is really a coffee hub. Most I ever seen in one street. They do not have coffee bean though. Haha. The street is pretty nice. See for yourselves.

Besides being a coffee hub, its also a place for dog walkers i guess. Saw a lot of cute little puppies. How i wish that we could stay at those houses near this place. We meet with some really unusual people. They go around givin' free hugs. I still do not know what it is about.

If my friend has an alcohol addiction, I think I'll soon get an addiction to cupcakes. There is this shop named crave. The sell very nice cupcakes. Comes in different colours and flavours. Blue, Pink, Yellow and so on. Its really sweet and nice. The cake is actually a chocolate flavoured cake. We have blue vanilla and yellow peanut butter. Must go back there and try another flavour soon. Hope to spend more wonderful Sundays like this.
