The Reunion

Well, it was a reunion of the readin week trip gang plus a Santa Kit. Haha. Although it was only one day, we had so much fun. We kicked off the day a buffet dinner at the casino while waiting for the gals to arrive. Finally we got one sunny day! The crowd was crazy today. Guess everybody came out from their hiding place after the rain.

Manage to see not one but two rainbows at the falls. Amazing! Its the first time that I get to see a full rainbow. so upclose and clear. Here are photos of the American Falls and the Horsehoe Falls which I thought looked like a huge washing machine. Haha.

Next up was the journey behind the falls. Its cost us 12 bucks. I must say that this is even more disappointing than the CN Tower. Never visit this attraction unless u really got money to waste. The famous Maid of the Midst is still not running yet. Sigh

We went to all places that me n abuchi went before as the gals have yet to check them out.

The London Eye............not. Haha Its called the Sky Wheel a new attraction in Niagara. The ride was definitely worth it. I suggest going during sunset. So glad that our cart never fall despite the weight of erm erm erm. Hehe.

Note: We succeeded in scaring the gals on the way back to the inn. Yeeharr!

The Most Humid Day Ever in My Life

Rain rain rain. Argh. Watched the forecast and found out that it will rain the whole day! How are we ever gonna see the falls? Humdity was 90%

Started off the day by going to Mama mia. No, its not another boradway show. Just a Italian retaurant. Food are alright only. Decided to walk around the town a little more and stumbled upon these two very intersting shops. A coca-cola shop in 50's deco and Hershey's chocolate stall. Fooled around a little at the place. As usual we did not buy anything. Haha.

We surprisingly stumbled upon a very nice park named Enchanted Garden. I really do have the enchanted feel as the whole park was covered in fog. Reminded meof the Kevin Kern piano tunes. Not to mention there is lots of bird shit too. Yucks!

Finally after much walking around, we manage to reach the falls. Found that the whole place was coevered with midst. Took some photos anyway. Praying for a sunny day tommorrow. And gonna carry out the plan to scare the gals too. Waiting...

The Mini Vegas in Canada

That's how I feel about Niagara Falls. I can really feel a great American influence in the town. The stretch of street along Cliffton reminds me of Vegas and so does the casinos around here. Settled for a restaurant famous for steak. It turn out to be the best steak that i ever had.

Rest of the night was spent oozing at the night scene of the falls. Red, yellow, blue. The illumination was great.

Tried out a funny wheel of fortune game at the casino too. Too bad abuchi and I lost. Its the first time I encountered a first timer who cannot win money. Guess you should not gamble at all abuchi. Wahaha.

The Day We Kissed Stanley

Its gonna be a really hectic day today. Began from packin in a rush to check out after we got up late. Thanks to clubbing last night.

First up was the hockey hall of fame. Was overwhelmed by the large number of jerseys and cup in display at the Hockey Hall of Fame. Got to try out a virtual hockey shooting game too. Well, as usual abuchi manage to do much better than me. Again proven that I could not do ball games. Sigh. Managed to kiss the Stanley Cup. Woohoo!

The ride up CN tower was the only good part of that attarction. We did not manage to get a good view of the town as the city was covered with smog on that day. Argh. The 30 bucks charged was way too expensive. The glassfloor lookout was not as good as calgary tower too and it cost only 7.50 in Calgary!

Rounded up toronto with some roadside hotdog van. Things that we could never fids in Calgary. Saw a pretty intersting road sign while buyin the hotdog too. Catchin a bus to Niagara later in the afternoon.

The Castle, Crepe and Creepy Phantom of Toronto

It was raining in toronto today. Argh. The strong blowing wind makes me feel like I'm back in Calgary again.

We did more walking today. The hike up to Casa Loma was nuts. We were so disappointed to see that the castle was just big but less impressive than the one in Victoria. Gave it a pass. Same goes for the other buildings round UofT. Big and old.

The walk around the uptown district was just so so. We however manage to stumble upon some really nice shops while walking around the area. I luv the flavoured water at Pusateri the most. Kiwi, strawberry and lime. All mixed together. The crepe down queen street was amazing too.

The highlight of the day must be the Phantom of the Opera. Manage to get cheap student rush hour ticket. The mechanicals of the shows wereso impressive. The chandlier rising from the stage to the ceiling, the phantom descending to his secret room and the rooftop scene. The phantom gave a very impressive performance. More broadway shows please!

The first Day of the Month Long Travel

Was super sad to leave Calagry but excited to embark on this one month travel. I'll be meeting abuchi also. Guess its gonna be really enojyable and interesting too. Reached the hostel pretty early but found out that we had a really really small room. Can hradly even walk around. Slept while waiting for my buddy to arrive from montreal.

Went walking round the town and take lots of crazy snapshots. This it my fave of all .Haha. We did not went up the tower. Saving it for another day.

Weather was pretty fine. The searching for the restaurant part was so damn tiring. The advice is not to use a travel book from a couple years back because the shops miught closed down! I think we really did walk around the whole downtown tryin to find a place to eat.

Finally we settle for this place called Captain's Jack. The trout was humongous. We tried so hard to finish it up man. Longest dinner I ever had. Think the two of us stayed there for more then 1.5 hours. Thanks to the trout man.

Downtown was a vast different from Calagry. So alive and nice. I'm begining to like this place.

The Long Goodbye

Its been 4 months. Time really just flies by. Felt like I have just been in Calgary yesterday. This is the most enriching and certainly the best 4 months of my life. I have everything I need. Lots of love, happiness and friends. Its kinda hard to envision how I would be able to find something better than this in the future.

There is way too many things that I would miss about Calgary. So much that I do not know where to start. Its good to think that I have met so many amazing people in this short journey. People that have left a lasting footprint in my life. Thank you so much.

Well I glad that i left Calgary with nothing but beautiful memories. I really am grateful to have meet you guys here and shared such an wonderful unforgetable experience. I know its a cliche but I have to say it anyway Friendship Forever!

The Flames is Burning

Let me first introduce you to the great popcorn stall. Kernel's. There is so many different flavours. Luv the caramel the best! Its cheap and nice too. should try it it u ever have a chance.

Went to the Flames Central today. Just a couple of days after the grand opening. There was a playoff going on there.Calgary Flames against the Detroit Red Wings. Its was a rather impressive place. The lighthings were cool. Amospehre was even better. Huge number of Flames fans were already there by the time we reached. I had to change my track pants just ot get in. Diao. Dress codes.........

I must say that I am most impressed with the number of TVs available there. A TV to each urinal. Guess the owner must be a very thoughtful person, he even considered the patrons need to no miss a single moment of the game when answering to a nature's call. Haha. We did not stay till the end of th match as we could not get a nice spot. Still, it was a nice place overall.

The Bermuda Shorts Day

That's the name of the last day fo school here in UofC. Its a day where the school population will get drunk! Yup you hear me. They party on the last day fo school and exam starts Monday. I luv these people. They sure know how to have fun. Unlike back in SG everybody mug and get stressed up. Get a life peeps!

I really feel like I have been throw into a clubbing carnival. Music are great, the weather is just nice. 20 degrees. I think I am gettin too used to the weather here. Best thing is still going crazy with my friends. Hehe. Bring on the beer man!

There are also many interesting costume too. Here are some of them

I was so stupid to wear slippers there. Knowing that there will be cans everywhere. I got a cut in my little toe. Ouch! Despite the cut that I got in my feet the whole party thing is worth it. This exchange is really an eye opener. I should've came to Canada for my tertiary education!!!

I'm so gonna miss the life here. Should we party harder after exams my friends? Hehe.

The Last Few Weekends

Could hardly believe that my exchange is coming to an end so soon. I am so gonna miss this life. Carefree and simple. Knowing that there is not much time left, we decided to goout a little more. Hehe. Furthermore, the weather was quite nice during the weekend.

Well, to mark the start of the long weekend, Iwent to church. Well its Good Friday. Gotta go anyway. This is the first time I went for a service since the day I arrived in Calgary. Ooops. The church is pretty small but nice. The way they do the service was pretty casual too. Only 2 guitars and 3 ppl at the choir. No knights of the alter. Just the priest. First time i see this. But i like it that way, as we go church not to marvel at the choir or settings.

The next day was spend at the tallest spot in Calgary. Yup you guessed it right. Went to the Calgary Tower. Almost missed out on the hidden gem. The view up there was spectacular. The best part is still the glass floor. Hehe. Damn scary to look down. Found bx's weak point finally. *Grin*. Here are the view from the top.

3 of us having fun at the glass floor.

As it was a one day admission, we decided to see the sunset too. However, it was 4 hours before sunset. Well it spring time. Sun does not set until like 7.30 pm. Hence we went to Kensington our favourite coffee hangout. Hehe.

Finally back to the tower right before sunset. However, we did not get a goodview of it. Damn. There is a freakin tall building that stood erected right in from of the sun. Argh! What a 'smart' way to plan the town ho. They call Calgary Tower the tallest tourist tower in the world. Now tear that building down!!!

We sat there chattin till its night. The night sure make people reminisce. I wonder and wonder how's things gonna be after this exchange. It seems like I am in paradise. Well at least i got my share of paradise.

Sunday was spent walking around the park and eatin at the drive in. Guess that winds up my weekend. Two more weekends to go before I leave behind this place that I really wanna make my home.

The Small Little Things

When was the last time you had a pretty nice dinner with your loved ones? Watchin television together? Catching up on each other's daily life? Perhaps an outing on the weekend to unwind and relax? If your answer is no, better do that quick. You dun wanna look back someday regret not being able to do this small little things with them anymore.

We all are good at chasing our material dreams. Too good at it perhaps, that we fail to acknowledge the better things in life. If you think that bigger is better, think again. Does the thought of you scoring straight As and earning a million dollar brings more happiness to you or simply having a really good evening staring at the starry sky, chatting with your loved ones? I'll choose the later. I hope it is the same for you.

Let us not loose ourselves in this crazy world. Take a break sometimes to do the little things that will not earn you money or name. You will look back someday with a smile on your face for these small little insignificant things could be the most precious in your life.

I really do love my life here in Calgary, for the first time ever since I left home I felt really good and at ease. I chased not big dreams but live each days of my life simple and true. Well, thank God for sending me angels. Even if its only for 4 months, I'm thankful.

The Canadian Badlands

Whew! One of the most enjoyable day in my life. Went to the desert about 2 hours drive away on a day trip with fellow exchange students. The scenery was magnificient. Had lots of fun. Especially the April fool's pranks. I'm so gonna miss all these in the future.

On the way to Drumheller

At Horseshoe Canyon

Inside Royal Tyrell Museum

Hoodoos

Dinner at New Asia

April's Fool at Cascade Hall

Still kinda lost about where to go after my exchange. . Hate to say this but plans to travel after Canada ain't goin' on smoothly. Well, maybe I should just head home. After all they say, your family is the only one that will never let you down. Please let this be true.

Meanwhile my dear friends in Casacde lets enjoy the final 3 weeks we have together!

Here's the video of our trip. Enjoy!
